Essay Instructions:

This assignment will be a 5 to 7 paragraph (100-200 words each) report including the following topics and elements.
Begin with an introductory paragraph stating and briefly explaining the top 2 concepts from the course that have been most influential to you, in your study of ethics. These could be from any unit i.e. ancient philosophies, stakeholder prioritizing models, corporate social responsibility, etc. These must be correctly defined from the course text.
Profile 1: In this section you will identify a business professional who exemplifies the ethical characteristics you strive for. The Profiles section of our text (Appendices B) provides 10 excellent examples, other leaders such as Bill Swanson of Raytheon were highlighted throughout the text, or you may use another professional of your choice. The profile must identify and correctly explain at least 3 characteristics of ethical behavior and leadership that you learned in the course, using correct definitions from a related course unit.
Profile 2: In this section you will identify a business that exemplifies the ethical practices we have studied. During the course numerous companies and models i.e. stakeholder prioritization, employer workplace practices, privacy, transparency etc. were highlighted. The profile must identify and correctly explain at least 3 characteristics of the company’s ethical practices that you learned in the course, using correct definitions from a related course unit.
Your Personal Ethics Mission Statement: In this section you will write your personal Mission Statement that incorporates your personal values. The section will answer the question: on what will you base your professional identity? The text Chapter 11, section 11.4 provides excellent tools and examples to guide you through this exercise and you must reference at least 1 of the models and tools presented in this section.
Conclude your report with a summary and any additional comments about what you've learned about ethics through the course.

Understanding the relationship between ethical principles and real-life applications is essential for any professional. It allows him to be able to make wise decisions that balance the benefits between himself and the common good. Accordingly, some of the ethical principles that have been most influential for me throughout the course are (1) ‘being a professional of integrity’ and (2) corporate social responsibility. On the one hand, being a professional of integrity means doing your best to be the best version of yourself as you deal with others. On the other hand, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a principle that encourages, not only individuals but also corporations in being accountable to their own actions.
Profile 1 – John Huntsman, Sr.
Perhaps one of the most common misconceptions about businessmen is that these professionals are the people who are farthest from being a “man of integrity”. However, this is not true since there are also plenty of businessmen who have strong ethical principles that make them even successful in their own fields. Accordingly, one of the businessmen who have influenced me the most was John Huntsman, Sr. who is a multibillionaire, diplomat, and the former United States Ambassador to Russia. He is a man adored by many for his uncompromising adherence to his moral code and his belief that businesses should also consider the welfare of the many.
On the one hand, Huntsman, Sr. is a professional of integrity due to his steadfast adherence to his moral code. One of his fundamental beliefs is that “There are no moral shortcuts in the game of business or life” CITATION Tra16 \l 1033 (Tracy, 2016). In fact, he built his multibillion-dollar businesses from scratch by keeping in mind his moral code. One good example of his virtue was his rule that none of his companies should profit or acquire capital from junk bonds. Even though several companies take through extreme risks in using these platforms to acquire capital, Huntsman ruled against subjecting his stockholders and clients at risk.
On the other hand, Huntsman’s dedication towards ‘giving back’ to others is another trait that makes him a man of integrity. He was one of the most active contributors and donors in several charities both inside and outside of the country, with Time Magazine ranking 6th in top philanthropist in the world.
