Module 7 Free Market Kidney Reflection Assignment Business Essay

Essay Instructions:

This assignment is based on the all of the assigned readings and videos for this week, but make sure to pay close attention to the arguments in the two abridged essays by Janet Radcliffe Roger. Your reflection assignment is based on the following question:
1. Would a free market in kidneys be fair to poor people? Argue both sides of the issue.
Suggested Format
These reflection assignments are meant to help you develop ideas, issues and questions to contribute to the class. Unlike formal papers, they do not have to defend a thesis, though they may. They may also have a personal (“I think”) and searching (“maybe”) quality to them. They must, however, demonstrate that you have engaged in a close reading of the assigned material. You must quote and analyze specific passages from the reading and use parenthetical page references.
Here is a suggested format to follow in these reflection papers:
a. in the first paragraph, introduce a specific issue, problem or question that the reading raises for you with respect to the case scenario
b. in two to four paragraphs, use specific evidence from the text, including quoted passages, to develop your thoughts about how the larger reading helps you address this issue, question or problem (use parenthetical page references)
c. in a final paragraph, sum up what you have learned from engaging the text in this way—for example, what you now think in response to your opening question or problem, or what new questions or issues your analysis has raised for you
Formal Requirements
a. Include your name, the due date, the name and section of the course (e.g., ECO-172 Principles of Macroeconomics), and the title of the assignment (e.g., Module 10 Reflection Assignment)
b. Your assignment must be typed, double-spaced, use 12-pt. font, and display 1-inch margins on all sides
c. Spell-check and grammar-check your work. Misspellings, typographical errors and inconsistencies, and referencing problems need to be addressed before you submit your work
d. Direct quotes and paraphrases must be cited appropriately
e. Your assignment should be no less than 500 and no more than 800 words in length (i.e., 2-3 pages)
f. Include a word count at the end of your assignment
g. Your assignment must include at least one direct quote from any of the readings mentioned in the prompt

In a kidney transplant, the government is supposed to protect individuals, especially the poor people, on ensuring that the kidneys donated are practical and efficient for use and therefore reducing the level of deaths caused by this factor. Organ failure occurs when the wrong kidney is donated and affects the individual, causing death, and consequently, low-income individuals need protection from the sales of the kidneys. However, free-market deals on the body organs are cheap, and this favours the poor people since prices are conducive and affordable. The reason free-market sales of organs are illegal is because many policymakers see the opportunity as repugnant (Schotter, 2016) Many people oppose the legalization of free-market sale of body organs as it involves consequences of higher prices and demand for kidneys will be very low, and therefore the poor people with kidney problems will not be favoured.
Many individuals, through proper diet, do well with one kidney and, therefore, can help others without. Many people need kidney transplants, and low-income people might not afford prices that are associated with the legalization process. Thus, the free-market sale is sufficient for all individuals and for finding satisfaction with what they need. Through the open market sale of kidneys, many people will get the kidneys as the demand will increase, and the number of deaths reduced; therefore, saving many people as the body organ is economical. The low-income individuals will benefit through this form of trading through selling their kidneys to people who need them and through the finances, can afford to meet their daily needs. ‘Since paid organ donors will always be relatively poor, and maybe unprivileged and undereducated, the full donors' understanding of risk cannot be understood&rsq...
