Medicare Ombudsman Program
The Medicare ombudsman program is a resource initiative by the department of Health where individuals get the opportunity to explore the Medicare landscape and find ways to protect themselves and their families. The program is informative in regards to highlighting the individual rights and protections. It also provides guidance on the filing of complaints and grievances pertaining Medicare benefits. The ombudsman advocates against the misuse of the rights of the individuals covered under the Medicare program and hence acts as the liaison between the common citizens and the government medical institutions. Hollister notes “The Ombudsman also compiles data about the types if issues and complaints most frequently handled and shares that information with the Secretary of Health and Human Services to help continually improve the Medicare program” (Hollister, 2012).
