1 Strengths and weaknesses
The theory conceptualizes that leadership is a process that is depends on the leader-follower interaction which is different from other theories.
Strengths
* It is descriptive and suggests the importance of recognizing the in-groups and out-groups with an organization.
* It is unique since it is the only approach that address the relationship between the leaders and followers.
* It is noteworthy since it acknowledges the importance of communication in leadership.
* It leads to positive organizational outcomes.
Weaknesses
* It does recognize the basic human values. It discriminates some groups in the organization.
* The theory together with its ideas are not fully developed.
* Its measurement scales lack content validity since they may measure what they were not supposed to. (Vidyarthi, Erdogan, Anand, Liden, & Chaudhry, 2014)
