Choosing To Design And Develop The Database
The inventory data management system is chosen to facilitate the purchases, sales and stocks management, while discrepancies in the data structure and database design system will distort stock levels and show/ the objectives to be considered include administrator functionalities, inventory manager functionalities and the salesmen functionalities. The credentials for authenticating the user, contact details, categories of inventory items, prices, and dates are considered for the administrator functionality. Emphasis on tracking the products goes beyond recording the sales to notifying the users when there is a need for restocking and supporting maintenance. The reports on sales are generated when required under inventory data management and the stock quantities corrected when anomalies are detected.
Common data problems
Prioritizing data management requires effective designing and implementation of the inventory database, but this is far from smooth as there are shortcomings that may arise. One of the problems is length times when retrieving information when using the file system approach to retrieve information (Coronel & Morris, 2017). Failure to address the problem of duplication complicates the database system and affects data accuracy, and this is considered in the early phase of designing the inventory data management
Another common problem is inadequate needs analysis whether there is failure to recognize gaps in the inventory data management system. Prioritizing needs in system management requires that the system designers define the scope and make realistic expectations of what the database is expected to achieve. For instance, cases of restocking, and inventory shortage are considered to meet the needs. There are likely to be downplayed when there is poor planning and design of the inventory data management system. The database is the foundation of the system and mapping the needs makes it easier to meet them, and it is possible to make changes without altering the whole project.
The scope of the database design (entities)
In the development process after identifying the proof of concept that is feasible and objectives the next phase is defining the scope of database design. Then modeling process then links the entities with the relationship. The entities in the relationship are the products, sales transactions, customers and suppliers. The sales transactions result from selling the products, while the customers purchase these products supplied by the suppliers. There can only be sales transactions when ...
