The expansion of civilization triggered the development of writing systems in terms of communication information and recording. Notably, these systems incorporated syllabary, logography, and alphabetical letters. A crucial milestone was achieved when oral to written culture developed. It was later complemented with creating the twenty-four-letter Greek alphabet (Daniels, 2006). Later on, the English alphabet was attained from the Greek letters, as an easy, competent way of converting the vocalized word into writing." According to Burgio (2021), people used papyrus scrolls two millennia ago in educational matters and other places to record crucial information for future references. The ancient man-manufactured papyrus scrolls from papyrus reeds. They were predominantly found in Egypt. Creatively, they wrapped the papyrus scroll in wooden to protect it from wear and tear (Burgio, 2021). Regrettably, the invention of the papyrus scroll as a writing pad was insufficient because its ends fell off quickly. To solve the issue, Codex was invented to replace papyrus scrolls. The ancient man used sheepskin and calfskin to create Codex, which was more durable and efficient than papyrus scrolls. Codex became famous as the best method of recording essential information. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Codex was fashioned using engraved wood chiseled out, leaving letters raised smartly (Larsen & Letteney, 2019). The scholars increased the visibility of engraved letters by inking the wood nicely. In the middle ages, the modern man went ahead to advance the idea of Codex and came up with the large production of papers.
Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press in 1436, leading to the production of books and other writing resources in large quantities. Instead of utilizing woodblock, Johannes Gutenberg used a removable efficient metal type. Johannes's literary work mentioned religious concepts such as the famous 42 line bible. His printing press formed the basis of newspaper production in the 1600s'written in the English language. The idea of newspaper production played a crucial role in information sharing between individuals though government-controlled and censored it. By 1695, the legislature entailing members of parliament voted out the "renew licensing policy." A free press policy was introduced and approved as a legal law. It empowered citizens and the press to share information and compose any topic affecting people without government interference. Ted Nelson established a new era in 1965 by creating hypertext referred to as a "linked network of nodes comprising information." The link permit person who reads to come across nodes in a non-linear style. Similarly, Ted Nelson proposed a Xanadu system known as a global system of related literature work.
