When Ridge Intellectual, a graphics design firm, implemented 360-degree feedback in its organization two years ago, it was met with resistance and was eventually discontinued. Ron Bartlett, the president of Ridge Intellectual, had seen a demonstration by a 360-degree vendor at a trade conference and decided to use the system at Ridge. Subsequently, Bartlett worked with the consultant to implement the system. Specifically, he sent out a company-wide e-mail stating the reasons for changing to the new system, how the ratings collected using the new system would be linked to bonuses, and the importance of completing the online training course on the system. The consultants provided online rater training for those who were interested as well as links to documents describing how to observe, assess, and record performance behaviors. After the surveys were made available, individuals were encouraged to contact HR if they had any problems.

The improvements that follow the feedback system are circular in nature in that it flows from an improvement in management effectiveness, to work relations leading to increased productivity and better customer service delivery (Ash, 2009, p. 2). For the 360 degree feedback system to be successful, every preliminary stage up to the launch stage has to be implemented perfectly.
To ensure the effectiveness of the 360 degrees, Ridge Intellectual Design Firm ought to have a philosophy of improvement and growth within its employees before the 360-degree system. The core values of the company should be exhibited through the survey process giving a clear description of the ideal candidate for an employee. In order to have the employees backing of the system employees at Ridge Intellectual should have been involved from the beginning of the process.
It is important to success that the employees feel a sense of support within the organization which in turn allows the motivation by the survey process to proceed. Ron Bartlett should have offer Support and encouragement to the users of the system, this way they will appreciate the value of the survey on them as individuals and the organization.
Communication with the users of the system is vital to its success, and Ron Bartlett should have considered some form of communication through an open meeting. Clear and concise communication make the entire organization part and parcel of the process and not that the administration is forcing it upon the employees. This way he would clearly tell the involved about the purpose of the survey process its purpose and what exactly it entails. The objectives of the system should be explicit and the expectation of the project realistic. To reduce bias and to increase the accuracy of the employees using the system the employees ought to be fully furnished with the details of the system.
