Personal view on Collective Bargaining
Collective bargaining is a process whereby the labor and management negotiate the agreement on terms and conditions of employment procedure through a system of shared responsibility and decision making (Bernard, Alberto & Horacio, 2000). I support collective bargaining and I believe it should be promoted in all countries for several reasons. For instance, it helps in safeguarding the rights of workers in an organization. It provides an avenue where the employees can air their grievances thus ensuring they are not exploited. The fundamental rights covered by the collective bargaining agreement are right to life, right to work, right to equity, right to participate and right to industrial peace (Bernard, Alberto & Horacio, 2000). Collective bargaining also ensures that even contractual, casual and probation workers’ rights are also covered.
