Introduction
Strategy implementation is the process of executing the necessary plans to achieve the set goals of the organization (Abbass, 2003). The best of the strategies may fail as a result of poor implementation, and excellent implementation can save improper strategies. This paper focuses attention on Dish Network’s past strategies. It assesses how measurement of strategy implementation and evaluation efforts may help guaranteeing the success of strategic plans.
Measurement and Evaluation of the Implementation Phase
Dish Network Corporation is an American broadcast satellite service provider, which was started in 1995. It provides satellite pay television, satellite internet among others. I concur with the thesis that successful implementation of the strategic management plan for a large corporation like Dish is highly reliant on measurement and evaluation efforts during and after the implementation phase. This is because a strategic management plans, just like any other plan must be made with consideration of what is happened in the past, what is currently happening and what happens in the future (Satterlee, 2001). This enables a clear focus on the threat and opportunities, which can either, pull down or boost the strategic plan. In 1995, Charlie Ergen one of the company’s three founders had a plan to expand their company (Dish, 2016). The strategy was to launch his first satellite from China. He risked the future of their young company with a multimillion-dollar satellite and several months later he succeeded and the first broadcast from Cheyenne, Wyo was done. Ergen’s visionary courage has made Dish a leader in its field through sales, acquisitions and contracts (Dish, 2016).
