Imagine your manager has requested that everyone in the company take the StrengthsFinder test. Now, your manager has asked you to put together a training tool on how to best coach and develop employees in the decision making process who have varied strengths.

Decision-making process is a complex process that needs a deliberate organization of ideas so as to arrive at a meaningful decision that would help in achieving the intended goal. Decision-making process involves seven stages. However, these stages may not be the same for everyone since people differ in the strengths of decision making; other may take a short time to make a decision while others may take a shorter one. The first step involves identification of the decision. At this point, a person should define the nature of the decision that should be made to solve a confronting problem.
The second step is gathering relevant information. To make an informed decision, one needs to have some information to help in deciding the best way out. Gathering information entails identifying sources of information that contain solutions to problems such as the one identified. Information may be sourced from online or in library books. It may also be sourced from within through self-assessment. After all the information has been gathered, the next step, step three, is identifying alternatives. In the process of collecting information, certainly one may come across various alternatives to solving a problem. At this point, one needs to identify those alternatives and add more through imagination or further researching.
The fourth step is weighing the evidence. Here, the decision maker needs to use the information gathered as well as personal emotions too deeply imagine how it would be if any of the alternatives were used. Consider the nature of the decision identified in the first step and figure out if it would be adequately addressed by the alternative. This is an internal process through which all the alternatives are matched with the nature of the decision to e made.
