Conservation and Tourism Development in the Majority World

The purpose of this assignment is to make you aware of the many predicaments and controversies that exist in tourism development, particularly in the majority world. Completing this assignment will help you achieve the following learning outcomes:
Compare and contrast tourism development concepts, ideologies, and trepidations that permeate tourism development in different regional contexts; and
Analyze the roles of tourism and stakeholders in tourism in the majority world.
Select one of the three options (A, B, or C) listed below. Research the topic and then critically analyze the different themes (pros and cons) that underline the respective topic.
To successfully complete this assignment, you need to address all threee parts (1-3) of this assignment noted below. In support of your analysis use at least six (6) current (within the last 10 years) outside sources (e.g., journal articles, scholarly books, websites, government documents) of which at least four (4) sources must be either peer reviewed journal articles or scholarly books. You may use one website and/or current news article as part of your six sources. Make sure you properly reference your sources using APA (6th ed.). Wikipedia is not considered a valid source of information. Marks will be deducted if you are not using adequate referencing. Use the marking rubric to check if all sections have been addressed (also -remember to specifically focus on the criteria listed for critical thinking) and to clarify the distribution of marks for each section of the assignment.
Topics for the Position Paper:
A)Accessible or barrier-free tourism in the majority world: What are the positive and negative implications of accessible tourism for a) the visitors/travelers; (b) the local community members; and c) the local tourism providers in the majority world?
B)Conservation and tourism development in the majority world: What are the positive and negative implications of conservation requirements for a) the visitors/travelers; (b) the local community members; and c) the local tourism providers in the majority world?
C)Adventure tourism in the majority world: What are the positive and negative implications of adventure tourism growth for a) the visitors/travelers; (b) the local community members; and c) the local tourism providers in the majority world?
Writing Specifications for the Position Paper
In your analysis, please address the following:
1)Stakeholders: Start by defining your main variables in the debate (i.e., the stakeholder groups). Next, analyze the controversy outlining the relationships between the stakeholders involved using a minimum of four sources in support of your analysis.
2)Role of tourism: Analyze the controversy outlining the relationship of tourism involvement in the debate. Find a minimum of three sources in support of the debate (at least two of these sources need to be an academic reference). Do not just describe and restate the literature but critically analyze the information from the literature. Be sure to refer directly to the sources included in the essay and provide examples to support your analysis. Do not address solutions in this section (this will be the focus for section #3), just focus on interpretation and analysis of the debate in relation to tourism.
3)Proposed solutions: As a result of your readings, identify what some of the potential solutions could be to alleviate the problems of the controversy you have identified and analyzed. Be sure to use outside sources and/or the course material to support your argument. It is your interpretation that is important in this section. Use at least two different sources in support of your proposed solutions.
Important: Make sure to critically analyze the information from the literature and to provide examples from the sources in support your analysis. By comparing and contrasting one position over another, ask yourself, what do you think the authors are saying about the role of tourism in relation to your topic?
Remember: Start your paper with an introduction and finish with a conclusion. We strongly advise you to use headings for structuring your paper.
Format Requirements for Position Paper
Your position paper should follow these specifications:
Length: 5 pages max (2 points will be deducted for extra page).
Font: The text will be in Times New Roman 12 pt.
1.5-space the lines of text of the position paper.
Margins: The left and right margins should be set to 1”.
References: A list of references should appear on a page of its own at the end of the essay.
There are three topics to choose from, I was learning towards Conservation and tourism development in the Majority world since It seemed to have the most resources.
