Defining Empowerment
Empowerment refers to the ability to give people power, authority, and control over their own lives, be it at work or home. Empowerment is founded on the notion that people or employees have control over things and love to take more responsibility (Kim & Beehr, 2020). Through empowerment, employees, for example, get the much-needed support to become the best version of themselves. In addition, perfectly structured empowerment programs allow teams to stay motivated and build a greater sense of accountability and responsibility. Empowering leaders are those that set teams for success, avail the necessary tools, technology, or resources to teams; those that keep communication open and are always open to mistakes.

Empowering teams demand more engagement with the people, and some of the competencies needed for successful empowerment are good listening, empathy, competence, confidence, vision, and problem-solving skills.
