Christian leadership is rooted in one being a servant. The distinguishing characteristics of a Christian servant leader include listening and valuing the contributions of others. A servant leader pays attention to both the unsaid and the said; they seek to have a genuine understanding of the people they lead. Additionally, they are empathetic to others; they recognize and accept the uniqueness of every individual. Unlike other leaders, they combine empathy and listening skills in their leadership. Also, persuasion is employed in their leadership more as compared to other leadership that utilizes authority to coerce compliance (Dameron, 2016).
Servant leadership is in line with world views’ and other religions’ ways of leading. Leaders in various domains globally have employed some of the servant traits in their leadership. Apart from the authoritarian model, others utilize persuasive techniques to convince their followers. Also, most leaders foresee the future, nurture others, and conceptualize ideas that are similar to servant leaders.
