Human resource management and more so, in the recruitment process ranks as a crucial one. In this regard, the firm has to approve the appropriate staffing policy that they deem fit according to the needs of the organization. In this type of business environment, there are three type of staffing policy approaches used including geocentric staffing, polycentric staffing, and ethnocentric staffing and each of them tags with its advantages. The primary objective behind the ethnocentric staffing approach lies in the recruitment of human resources from the parent country to fill top ranking positions of the firm across its worldwide branches. Therefore, the approach disregards local staff for these positions (Hill, 2008). Millicom International Cellular Limited is a telecommunication company with its roots in North America. In its subsequent venture into Central Africa has seen its top positions taken over by the Whites from the United States (U.S.) (Mbabazi, 2012). On the other hand, this approach has an edge to the firm in that overcomes the lack of qualified managers in the domestic country. Employees from the parent country are also familiar with the culture of the from, which paves way for a unified culture rather than a diversified one.
