The increase in lifestyle diseases and awareness about environment sustainability has made it imperative for people to eat healthy foods that are produced through environmentally friendly approaches. These insights form a window of opportunity to engage in production and sale of organic foods that are increasingly being accepted in the market. To exploit this opportunity, I propose to set up an organic farm that will sell retail horticultural organic produce to satisfy the high demand in the market. Due to the high demand, the business will also contract certified organic farms to supply produce based on the market demand.
The 21st century is characterized by increased globalization and advancement of information technology. In this light, the business will include both physical and virtual platforms to reach a wide range of consumers. The farm will specialize in producing indigenous products while the exotic ones will be sourced from suppliers. Initially, a retail outlet will be set up within the farm and a website will be used to facilitate e-commerce. The deliveries can be done through third party agents until the enterprise is capable of doing deliveries. A variety of products will be marketed to meet the needs of a multi-cultural community and increase profit maximization through diversification of products.
The initiative will offer me an opportunity to use my social skills to interact with consumers as a strategic marketing approach.
