When deciding on the cases that involve the Equal Protection Act, there are three standards that it applies. In the first standard, the court conducts strict scrutiny, so as to determine if at all the classification that has been challenged has any shred of interest to compel the state, in which case the government must be in a position to show. The standard is supposed to help classify the suspect and all the rights that fundamental and burdening. This standard is important as it helps the court to classify the suspects according to their race and origin nationally (Cheeseman, 2012).
