Introduction
Running a business currently is a major challenge as government regulations have enacted strict strategies and policies which change the way organizations staff their business as well as keep records. The paper discusses the role of the government under the biblical world view and how it contrasts to the secular worldview. The paper also examines the extent to which government regulation of business is necessary even in a market- oriented economy. The article further explains how government regulation can be prevented from being counterproductive.
The biblical world view versus the secular worldview
The biblical worldview asserts that the government should exist with an effort to create an environment that allows the accomplishment of Gods work (Trevino & Nelson, 2016). God created humanity and the world with a particular purpose, and thus every aspect of life including the government should be an instrument that permits that purpose to be achieved. It is God’s purpose that every human being gets to have a personal relationship and fellowship with him, and thus a godly government makes it easy to achieve this goal. The government’s duty, therefore, is not to dictate the religious practices and beliefs, rather the government should create a conducive environment where churches can freely advance Gods purpose. The government can achieve this by enacting laws and regulations that allow its citizens the freedom to carry in with Gods work.
The secular worldview, on the other hand, dictates that individuals have the likelihood of usurping Gods power for themselves when given a chance to exercise government power. Lucas & Fuller (2017) assert that the modern society, for instance, has the move to establish government structures that have different intentions than original establishments. The alternative arrangements are as a result of the naturalistic worldview and mostly expresses themselves in communism and socialism. These structures fail to recognize the achievement of God’s purpose as its principal goal and instead focus on the desires and hopes of humanity. The secular worldview, therefore, is based on the expectations and desire of those in power within the government and thus fails to recognize the absolute authority.
Under a biblical worldview approach, the law advocates for morality as its primary objective, unlike the secular worldview, where morality can be changed depending on those that are in power.
