In order to ensure that the company’s businesses are successful, it would therefore be important for the management to analyze its environment, both internal as well as external. The good thing about the analysis of its internal environment is that the company is able to specifically point out its major strengths as well as its main undoing. On the other hand, the good thing about external environmental analysis is that the organization is able to clearly identify its competitors, the opportunities available as well as any impending or present threats that might plague its operations in the short or long run. This reading will discuss the importance of environmental analysis through the lens of Comcast, as cited in two recent articles.
Comcast is one of the leading media and entertainment companies in the United States. It is the owner of the NBC Universal media house. The changing times, going toe to toe with the ever-dynamic technology have meant that companies will have to grapple with constantly changing their systems. Comcast had been undergoing challenging times of late, with bad publicity and the loss of its market share as a result of clients abandoning the use of the cable.
