Introduction
Biographies of men of the caliber of Andrew Carnegie used to be hagiography exercises or were politicized by authors in the past. However, bibliographies published in the recent decades provide well-researched information about renowned personalities. Examples of such personalities include Jay Gould, E. H. Harriman, John D. The story of Carnegie’s fortune about how he grew from a penniless 12-year-old Scottish immigrant in 1848, to a very prosperous business personality by 1860 is one of the most captivating stories in the American history (Nasaw, 2007). According to Nasaw, J. P. Morgan commended Carnegie in 1901 for being the richest man in the world. One of the interesting parts of Carnegie’s story is that he had given almost all his fortune away by the time he died in 1919.
Carnegie was outgoing and very optimistic unlike many conspicuous short men.
