It was founded in 1978. Over the years, it has emerged as the largest home upgrade retailer in the US. It deals with the supply of construction products as well as home appliances. The company remodels the homes and kitchens of its clients. It has gone a step further to offer online services to its clients. In 2019 the margin stood at 14.35%. It later declined to 14.37% in 2020. Currently, it stands out at 13.83 %. A high gross margin indicates a firm's ability to retain its finances with each sale realized by the firm (Angelos, P. 2021). It signifies a firm’s potential to meet its debt obligations. A gross margin above 20% is regarded highly and acts as a good indicator that the firm can meet its debt obligation. Home Depot's gross margin over the most recent three-year period is above 30%. Such a high value indicates the business is stable and doing well within the market. In 2019 the margin was at 34.34%, while in 2020 it declined to 34.09%. currently, the margin is at 33.95%. though the company has realized a downward trend in its gross margin, the value is at an acceptable level. A key indicator that Home Depot can meet its debt obligation despite the hard economic challenges facing several business organizations within the last three years. Net profit margin indicates the net income realized by a business organization concerning revenue received. Through this information, potential investors can evaluate whether the firm's management can generate good profit and how well the overhead costs are maintained. In 2019, the net profit margin for Home Depot was at 10.28%. In 2020, it declined to 10.20%, and currently, it stands at 9.74%. It, therefore, implies that Home Depot can sustain itself and realize profit despite the decline.
