Marketing excellence entails excellence in three basic areas; creation of extremely differentiated‚ customer- oriented or valued‚ and highly profitable products or brands (Finster, & Hernke, 2014).This paper will discuss Walmart’s new marketing campaign‚ and also whether the company made the right decision to drop “Always low prices” as a tagline.
Walmart is the 2nd largest company in the world today having been started by Sam Walton in the year 1962 (Roberts & Berg, 2012). It has revenue that exceeds 400 billion dollars. Recently, the company dropped the “Always Low Prices. Always” as a tagline. It decided to come up with another one that focuses on living better by saving money (Rollins & Ennis, 2014). Energy costs are something that can really cost a company especially with the high level of production that takes place.
The new tagline has enabled the company to remain focused on making possible reduction on energy costs (Rollins & Ennis, 2014). This reduction went hand in hand with another new move of trying to increase the retirement savings.
