Water Quality Report in Los Angeles
The water quality report reveals the results of the tests conducted by the water utility to the environmental Groups working in a particular city to the safety of the available water both to the environment and for human consumption. The quality of water report in Los Angeles over the past two years reveals high contamination levels that exceed the environmental regulations of water in the city (Environmental Working Group, 2019). The water has various components if contaminants including; arsenic, high levels of lead, extreme levels of chromium 6 and disinfection byproducts (Snipe, 2019). All these pollutants are known to contaminate most of the tap water right from the source, meaning that the humans and environment consume waters that are not safe for their health. While the government has passed grade to ascertain on the credibility in the safety of the water, the population and the surrounding area consuming polluted water since legal does not account for maximum safety. On the other hand, the legal limits for contaminants in the taps of water in Los Angeles have not been updated for a long period of time, approximating to almost 20 years (Environmental Working Group, 2019).In this case, the water quality report determines that the only way to ensure that the tap water is clean and safe for consumption is to prevent and eradicate pollution at the sources.
Water Quality Issues in Los Angeles
The rainwater in Los Angeles is contaminated by various concentrates like acids that are harmful to the environment and human life as well. The introduction of the polluted precipitated water yields disease-causing bacteria, threatening the lives of the population in the city. The run-off water on the grounds is also contaminated by products like oil and metals on the surfaces (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, 2015). This commodities mix with the water leading to increased toxicity since their origin is not known or analyzed. In this case, the run-off water is not one of the safest sources of domestic water in Los Angeles. Finally, the air in the environment is known to cause various types of contamination on the environment, including water pollution. The major source of air pollution affecting the rivers and valleys in the town is the release of gases from vehicles using gasoline and diesel combustion engines (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, 2015). The issue of lack of trees in the region makes the situation worse since the available resources like water are left vulnerable to the invention.
