Introduction
In any functional institution, people perform different duties. The people can, therefore, refer to the functions as their main ethical concerns. In hospitals, there is the ethics committee that is supposed to address some issues that arise in the medical fraternity, but the question is ‘Are the ethical committees in hospitals dealing with the challenges professionally as they should? According to the most recently conducted research on the role of the ethics committee in hospitals; it is evident that the ethics committees are performing below the expectations of the public. Their failure to perform efficiently leads to some questions from the parties involved. First, there is the question of whether there should be an ethical committee in the hospitals at all. Secondly, there is the question of whether the board is aware of its roles and responsibilities.
Ethical issues are known to mostly arise in instances where there are disagreements between two parties however it is important to note that ethical issues can occur when an individual does not have enough information on the right thing to do. They can organize informal annual surveys from which topics of discussion will arise.
Likewise, the medical department has very many departments from each they should select one person who can present some issues. Applying such mechanisms will be educating the bioethics committee as well as the individual who represented the departments. When the presenter in charge of a different department goes back to he/she will also have an opportunity to educate their colleagues. The whole organization will be knowledgeable on certain issues that were raised. They are now equipped with enough knowledge on how to solve the problems using the guidance given to them by the Bioethics Committee (Nelson 2014).
If all the Bioethics committees stopped being passive and performed their role in education professionally, there would raise minimal issues to deal with as far as the medics are concerned. It is not the case however in many hospitals the Bioethics Committee has not been handling their responsibility as they should. From the interview, it is easy to tell that some committees do not even have the data on the hospital's departments or staff yet such information is very ...
