Midterm Reflection on Hip-hop Music and Dance Essay

Essay Instructions:

This is a reflection paper for a dance class. It is a reflection paper of the midterm.
The midterm is a presentation of the history of hip hop & graffiti dance and a choreography made by ourselves. I’m working within a group.
There are five person: me(Sijia), Rebecca, Sterling, Marcos, Annabel.
Marcos and Sterling did the content of presentation and I did the PowerPoint. All five of us did the choreography. Our whole processes is Smooth and we all leaned a lot about the history of hip hop and graffiti. We meet outside the class to practice and we had so much fun.
I think next time we need to be more creative with the dance move . The music track we are assigned is Drop by Timbaland & Magoo and we love it. It has great beats.
I will attach:
1. the syllabus
2.the exact requirement of the midterm reflection by the professor
3.our presentation content
4.our choreography( the move we choose)
5.Class notes-What we learned each class( the name of each dance move)
Please carefully read all those material and combine with the experience I provide at the beginning. You can make up stories, too.( just make sure it is relevant to my experience and the class)
Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you

Locking, for instance, is a technique that brings a lot of enjoyment when an individual has the ability to link various dance moves and create a continuous flow. Locking requires a lot of rehearsals for one to gain perfection. When locking, the knees must always be bent slightly to allow for constant bouncing and also for switching from one move to another.
I have always been very determined in learning new things which have helped significantly throughout my course work especially in doing a critical analysis of skills. The dances that existed in the 1980s were mostly party dancing that dancers would showcase their styles (Jackson, 2001). In 2000 hip-hop dances become competitive and their commercialization was now widespread. I have also noted a trend in the hip-hop industry that new hip-hop dances are invented as new hip-hop music is released.
I have realized how f...
