Both movies, Strictly Ballroom and the Mad Hot Ballrooms, are must-watch films due to the various themes entailed in them. The first similarity between them is that they both entail the theme of sexuality. Strictly Ballroom (1992) is a romance and comedy film which covers Scott Hastings as the protagonist character. Scott invents his new Ballroom dances different from the traditionally accepted styles of dance. Everyone in the dance industry questions his unique dancing moves. In the movie, Strictly Ballroom (1992), the whole dance is sexualized. The society considers top dancers as celebrities who can get along with every dancing partner. Liz, Scott’s dancer partner, leaves him when he refuses to change his dancing styles.
Sexuality is a central theme in Mad Hot Ballroom (2005). This movie covers a ballroom dancing competition held in a public school. The pupils are more focused on leisure and entertainment rather than gaining knowledge at school.
