When I started watching the video, I came across the “Lessons and Carols.” It is mesmerising because I thought the readings we took time with at the Easter Vigil were sufficient in length for a once-a-year event (Nesaguli1612, 2017). I found myself enjoying the Canadian Chapel’s service. However, I do not need much research to understand the purpose, meaning and history of the service. However, I learned and noticed some aspects of this service style. I also noted service style that could fit my church back home.
At is formally called, the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, is traditionally used at Christmas.  Additionally, I learned that the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah as well as the the birth of Jesus as a story is told in nine Bible readings that are selected from the Book of Genesis, the prophetic books, and the four Gospels (Nesaguli1612, 2017). The story is interspersed with the singing of hymns choir music as well as Christmas Carols (Nesaguli1612, 2017). The service is a long tradition used as a pre-Christmas liturgy.
The chapel has an active choir that is a great asset especially for this service. The audience are kept engaged and involved during the nine readings, songs, and the sermon.
