Piano Concerto No.3 in D Major, BWV 1054 by Johann Sebastian Bach
The Piano Concerto No.3 in D Major, BWV 1054 is part of the Harpsichord concertos by Bach, which mainly took place when he was the director of the Leipzig University’s Collegium Musicum. In contrast, to the violin concertos, there were no direct modes to follow with piano concertos. Thus, Bach solved this problem through a keyboard system that used a technique similar to those of earlier Italian violin concertos. The adaptation of concertos that had the violin or other instruments culminated in the harpsichord concertos. Thus, Piano Concerto No.3 in D Major, BWV 1054 (1738-1739) is a transcription of the E Major violin BMV 1042 composed before 1730.
