Standard costs are expected costs that companies establish at the beginning of every fiscal year for all the prices paid and amounts used. Generally, standard cost systems replace expected costs with actual costs. Furthermore, standard costs are established in reasonable or achievable levels of production in manufacturing companies. Standard cost systems help gain insights and planning operations against the impacts of managerial decisions on the profits and costs levels that might arise in a company (Khan, 2018).
