The CPA Evolution aims at transitioning the CPA licensure model, which will identify and recognize the changing competencies and skills needed in accounting in a rapidly evolving world. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants has worked hand in hand with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy to achieve these goals and ensure a smooth transition in the evolution of CPA. The three discipline areas of CPA Evolution include the Business Analytics and Reporting (BAR) Discipline, the Information Systems and Controls (ISC) Discipline, and the Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP) Discipline (Evolution of CPA, 2022).
The Business Analysis and Reporting discipline serve as an evolving discipline that provides details about company status. The discipline comprises ten modules with complete lessons on data analysis, financial statement analysis, planning techniques, accounting research, and financial statements (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, 2022). These modules provide potential CPA professionals with adequate business analysis and reporting knowledge. The content of this discipline relates to my future career as an accountant since it offers valuable insights into writing reports and analyzing business information.
The information systems and controls discipline provides insights into using various information systems in accounting. The discipline ensures that professionals acquire the skills and knowledge needed to manage technological tools in accounting. The discipline comprises five modules covering IT governance, assurance-related research, IT controls, and other technological tools relevant to accounting (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, 2022). The contents of the discipline relate to my future career in accounting since it offers knowledge of the various technological tools used in accounting. This knowledge will ensure that I obtain relevant technical skills that make me outstanding in my career.
Lastly, the tax compliance and planning discipline provides valuable knowledge on taxation and methods in accounting. The discipline comprises 14 modules that cover areas such as tax planning for incomes, tax attributes, obtaining, using, and disposal of assets, appreciation and depreciation, methods of tax accounting in business, federal tax entities, and other related subjects (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, 2022).
