Introduction
The emergence of the New International System presented both opportunity and threat to the U.S’s political and economic climate not only at home but also globally. The U.S had to come up with suitable foreign policies that could help safeguard its relation and interests with other countries in the world, especially China and the Middle East. The New International System happened by the time President Nixon took office in 1969. This essay analyzes the key elements of the US’s diplomacy to China and the Middle East. The article also examines some of the actions taken by the US to verify if the country was successful or not in capitalizing and benefiting from its diplomacy missions. It also highlights the lasting impact of President Nixon’s’ diplomacy in the Middle East and China at his approach to the new era.
The new era saw Western European countries recovering as the western alliance became intact and American allies started acting independently. Politics became a problem in 1969, within the first year of Nixon in office. America experienced a lot of threats domestically making it more polarized than ever. President Nixon was forced to devise new policies to match the new international system. Nixon focused on foreign policies to ensure America dominates the world. However, the US foreign policies became more of a threat to its national security because Nixon’s foreign policies were rigid as him with Henry Kissinger; his National Security Advisor, controlled most of its implementation process. America became an oppressive and secretive government. One of the priorities stated in the foreign policy was to normalize it relations with China and Middle East using diplomacy. 
Key Elements of U.S. Diplomacy to China and the Middle East
China was one of the countries experiencing steady economic growth. America thought of tapping China vast market. Nixon used diplomacy to enhance the US relations with China for two and a half years. Nixon had faith and never lost hope in doing what he felt was good because with time it produced positive results. His believe can be compared to Galatians 6:9, Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Henry Kissinger National Security Advisor was much involved in the diplomatic process in China. This significantly reopened the Warsaw talks. As a result of these talks, some of the key elements achieved include America easing travel restrictions to China. In 1971, it further removed the special passport restriction. Nixon also finally scrapped off the long-standing trade embargo imposed on China after the ping- pong diplomacy. Nixon normalizing the relation between the US and China resulted in the establishment of liaison offices where diplomatic business were conducted. With time, the US started exporting grain to China as travel was expanded.
In the Middle East, President Nixon’s foreign policy by defending non-nuclear states from nuclear states when requested.
