You also have 3 civilian interagency liaison officers, one each from the State Department, Homeland Security and the CIA. Your challenges are several but one of the first things you have to consider is building a team of officers that come from culturally different organizations. In any given warfare responsibility, the responsible individuals must demonstrate leadership qualities, for the operation to be effective. Notably, as Chief of War Plans, the main responsibility is to ensure that the team works together cohesively and effectively to develop comprehensive and effective war plans. To build a cohesive and effective team, a leader needs to demonstrate leadership skills, for the plan to work.
In my personal experience, communication played a key role in any given operation. This ensured that everyone understood the goals, objectives, and expectations of the team. Our leader clearly articulated the vision and strategy for the team and ensured that everyone understood their roles and responsibilities. This helped us develop trust and a sense of responsibility among us. Further, I adapted these characteristics, which helped in my organization.
