My primary concern as a future nurse entails how to deal with patients from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds. The language barrier is a significant problem that can tamper with effective communication between caregivers and their patients. The issue is at the micro-level since it involves social interactions among people in small groups. For instance, in my case, the problem of not understanding individuals makes it hard for one to provide high-quality healthcare services
The most effective way to address this issue is by learning several common languages that individuals use in a specific community. That way, I will be able to interact with patients from different cultural backgrounds with the primary aim of developing a trusting relationship (McCormack & McCance, 2017). Sick individuals cannot share their feelings without first relating to caregivers well so that they can have confidence that these health professionals will use that information for purposes of treatment.
