A teenage girl being attacked by a shark was the daily topic on CNN at the time I arrived, which piqued my interest. However, that attention lacks any emotional resonance since, let's face it, we are accustomed to seeing news stories about people getting killed. In light of this, I believe the CNN World headline intrigues me rather than invoking solid feelings.
The celebration of the Chinese New Year nationwide was the China Daily's lead story when I arrived. People dancing and celebrating the Chinese New Year are depicted in the headline, and the entire nation celebrated as a unit makes me feel sentimental. Because I can recall the happenings on my new year’s evasive headline’s image makes me feel emotionally attached.
Yes, I feel bad for the girl, but this kind of thing happens all the time, at least in my experience, so I tend to lose interest in them. For instance, the word "kill" doesn't make me curious when I hear it in the news, but the word "massacre" does.
As I mentioned earlier, it reminds me of the past, particularly my childhood, when new year's eve was far more fun than it is now. When I reflect on the past, I remember my former self.
