The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is a treaty signed on 21st August 19991 by three countries namely the U.S, Mexico and Canada. It was created to eliminate tariff barriers to trade, protect intellectual property and remove investment restrictions. The elimination of the barriers of trade and inadequate anti pollution elements in the treaty are the reasons why for its opposition.
I agree with labors opposition to NAFTA, because before NAFTA people from rural Mexico could support themselves from the growing of crops for food and from sale in the local market but since NAFTA, most of the Mexican people cannot compete with imports from the U.S. many of them have left their homes so as to search for money (Hill 131).
