Leper war was as a result of taking action against the spread of leprosy. It started when one of the lepers shot dead the deputy sheriff Louis H. Stoltz, who attempted forced relocation of those infected with leprosy. However with the strict government a law was enforced in an attempt to stop the spread of leprosy which led to break of war between the government and the leper colony. This analysis will offer a critical review on the matter of race and culture portrayed in koolau the leper.

Based on the physical traits, the government had enforced a law in effort to stop the spread of leprosy which was implied in an attempt to exclude those who had the disease from the rest of the population in order to preserve the Hawaii’s economy.
