Art Comparison The Open Window

Name: Course: Tutor: Date: Art Comparison In the painting, The Open Window by Henri Matisse, the artist has used Fauvist style which includes the use of brilliant colors and great brushwork to draw an open window where one can see some sail boats at the far end. One of the common things that stands out in this piece of art is the combination of colors. The artist has used two different colors that often appear to have a great combination with each other thus bringing the intended message to the viewer of the pieces of art. The interior wall surrounding the window has also been divided into different broad areas that are filled with the blue and green color thus creating a great contract with the drawing of the window. Different flower pots can also be seen at the bottom of the piece of art and they have been painted with the red and blue color which also contrasts with the background color on the wall of the painting. In this piece of art, Matisse presents the image of the window using a combination of colors which are appealing and which can be easily observed by the person looking at the painting. In the painting of The Portuguese by George Braque, the artist did his painting in such a way that a person observing it would easily see that it was done on a canvas.
