College Life Reflection: Spending Money For Your Needs

Name: Institution: Date: College Life Reflection Joining college and living on your own terms was a humbling experience especially regarding personal finance. When I first joined college I always felt that the money I had was not enough for my needs. I used to spend my money anyhow and it wasn’t before long that I was broke. My friend told me having a budget is the best way to plan on your finances and after that I always have a weekly budget. Every Thursday I revisit my budget and track my expenses to ensure I have spend the money according to my earlier plan. So, my first lesson was to learn to have a budget and always following it promptly. I even downloaded an app to help me track my expenses especially when I was travelling. In campus, I partnered up with a friend who we rented an apartment such that we could be preparing our food at home. We cost shared the shopping and groceries and took turns preparing our meals. Every week we would sit down and create a menu for the week depending on what food we had and money then stick the menu on the fridge door. This helped us cut on buying food from other unnecessary expenses. It was also cheaper and healthier. We wanted to maintain a low carb diet and it was easy because we prepared our own meals.
