What went wrong here?
The null hypothesis H0: difference =0 and the degrees of freedom is 999(1001-2). Since the t-score is -5.7171 the P-Value is < .00001 and the result is significant at p < .05. This indicates that we reject the null hypothesis and accept the null hypothesis. While the t-test is normally used for small samples (n<30), it is appropriate for large samples where the assumption of normal distribution holds, but this is not clear from the case.
What’s wrong Unscrupulous Researcher’s work?
Predicting happiness in life is subjective and depends on the scale used to measure the variable. This is an N-Way ANOVA as there are more than two independent factors where there are 908 observations. Happiness in life is an unsuitable variable as it is arbitrary and the independent factors are likely to interact like spending in age, looks and healthy eating. This makes it more difficult to assess how the independent factors influence happiness in life. There are also different understandings of happiness in life.
How would you (properly) interpret the results? [can be short, just pic something to highlight from the ANOVA]?
The F-ratio value for the model is 2.66 (1.3005567 /.488334) since the model MS is 1.3005567 and .488334 for the residual. As the p-value is < .00001 the result is significant at p < .05, and we do not accept the null hypothesis.
