Photo Manipulation Assignment
Part 1
There are various photo editing tools on the internet and it is integral to select the right tool that offers both quality and consistency. I know the worth of getting the balance between three main components of the triangle: aperture, ISO and shutter speed. If we do not balance all these components, it will never be able to get a perfect and well-versed image.
The photo I chose for this photo editing project was that of a young girl. The original photo shows that she is wearing a light blue outfit and a round cap and the background of this photo is of light color yet quite impressive and beautiful. This RAW photo was opened in Bridge. When the histogram touched its right and left edges, it showed that the light and dark parts of the photo were clipped and there were underexposure and overexposure angles in the image.
The image was then edited; the left-sided photo is an overexposed version and the right-sided image is an underexposed version of the same photo. I provided both of these versions to make my target audience understand that it is possible to change the way a photo is presented. Little to major changes are made, such as its light is changed, the background can be changed and the entire color scheme can be changed. The purpose of this photo editing project is not to misguide or confuse the audience but to make them understand how photos are actually edited to make them look better in different projects.
Moving on, I wanted to show a perfect white balance in the same photo and there were no color casts that distorted the whiteness of white. If you compare the two images below, you will see that left-sided version is too cool and the right-sided version is too warm.
Here is my second photo example. This image has a perfect balance of contrasting colors and I chose some artificial and natural forms to give it a unique and impressive look. I do not call the image perfect, but the modifications I have done show almost all of its elements in a better way.
After copping the photo, I had modified the colors slightly. My aim was to draw the attention of the viewer toward the foreground.
Part 2
When it comes to presenting facts or providing the sensitive information to the people, I do not think it is ethical to edit photos and show them to the world. This is because editing is usually done for personal benefits; however, if the purpose is to remove sensitive or odd things from the photos, then editing them and publishing them can be considered ethical (Costello & Iversen 7). My photos do not have anything that could harm someone or...
