The Cordilleran Gangsa
The Gangsa is a traditional percussion instrument that is found in the Cordilleran region of the Philippines. It is considered as a metallophone for it is usually made up of bronze or brass, and because the sound it produces comes from contact between the player’s hands, beater, or any other material with the gongs itself CITATION NED18 \l 1033 (NEDA.Gov.Ph).
Although the instrument is native in the Cordilleras, the term itself presents a striking similarity with the Balinese and Javanese Gamelan instrument named the same.
