Discovery Wheel Questions
1 The wheel is an accurate picture of my ability as a student because it is comprehensive in its analysis of my strengths and weaknesses.
2 My self-evaluation surprises me because I was forced to confront my shortcomings and acknowledge my strengths.

7 I want to concentrate on improving these areas because I believe that it will make me a more balanced individual, student, and professional.
8 To meet my goals for improvement, I intend to develop a list of character goals that I will working towards achieving throughout the year.
Chapter Review Question
After reading Chapter 1, the article that I liked best was “Power Process: Ideas are tools”. I like the article because it radically contradicted how I perceived ideas. I previously believed that one has to believe in an idea if it is to work. However, the article revealed that ideas do not have to be true or false to work. Rather than trying to figure out whether an idea is true or false, it is best to just use it and see if it works or not (Ellis & Toft, 2014). The article gave me the courage to try new ideas without limiting my openness to various kinds of ideas. After reading the article, I became more receptive to new ideas, regardless of how absurd and useless they may seem.
I no longer worry if an idea is going to work or not. If a new idea works, I will apply it again but if it fails, I can always try a different idea (Barkacs, 2023). The article helped me realize that there is no right idea and that it is unwise not to be open to other perspectives that may work better than our current idea. I do not have to believe in an idea to try it. I have learned to suspend judgment of any new idea until I have tested it. I now only judge an idea after I have determined its efficacy in accomplishing the intended job.
