One of the main reasons why it is important to study social sciences is that it can help improve society. Human societies are facing numerous challenges like global warming and unemployment (Milton, 2017). Before studying social sciences, I had no idea how to contribute to a well-versed society. During the class, I was taught how our decisions can impact society as a whole. For instance, if we build commercial centers or residential colonies in areas where trees and plants are supposed to be grown, then this will surely contribute to global warming. Similarly, if we get to know the basics of welfare programs, then it will become easy for us to help the government understand what types of policy choices should be made. The problem of unemployment has taken a severe form, and by studying social sciences, I have understood what types of difficulties employers face while hiring people for different positions. For example, they receive numerous applications or resumes for the same position, and it becomes difficult for them to shortlist the most appropriate candidates. This problem can be solved by comparing CVs of candidates without any discrimination and by giving a chance to the most skilled and qualified individuals.
