Written by Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner was published in 2003. It is the story of a young boy from Kabul, Amir, who is a close of Hassan, but as the time passes, he betrays Hassan. According to me, the character of Hassan has a lot to learn from. Throughout his life, he proves his worth as the best and most sincere friend of Amir. However, deep inside, Amir does not consider him a nice person. Instead, he cites Hassan as the main reason for his emotional stress. At some points, Amir feels that Hassan is his Baba's hide-away son, especially when he says "I wish Hassan was here."
The loyalty of Hassan to Amir and Baba is the result of misfortunes of his own life. His character makes me understand that how difficult it is to survive alone in this world. Sometimes we give a lot more to a person that he actually deserves. In the case of Hassan, he stands up for Amir and all of his neighbors. He is the one who gets hurt the most, sometimes emotionally and sometimes physically. He is there for Amir in his bad times, and tries to protect him, but ends up being insulted and raped. Finally, all his prayers are listened to, when the Taliban find Hassan hiding in Baba's house. He protests and gets killed in the middle of the road.
