The ways of addressing the disparity in access to healthy food need to be secured to support social justice projects. For instance, the federal state’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative is such a strategy that offers $500 million-plus in the construction of the health-conscious grocery in the regions that cannot support the expensive goods (Veinot et al., 2018). The tax dollars appropriation is that such initiatives tend to work towards addressing the existing disparities. The politicians and congressional leaders will attain knowledge on the necessity of funding like programs. The public also needs to understand the challenges that individuals from the food-insecure and low-income face. Therefore, education is the primary key to enhancing public support for such programs.
The public will appreciate the knowledge that new grocery chains like Whole Foods Markets in the low regions will improve neighborhood labor participation. Through the stores, there will be employment creation for the residents that, in turn, enhance tax revenues. Also, educating the less fortunate residents regarding the benefits of health, fresh, and organic produce. According to research, the benefits of offering fresh food and education aim to change the perceptions on the alternatives of healthier food (Veinot et al., 2018). In addition to giving the public knowledge regarding the private and public health initiatives, there is a need to publicize the non-profit companies’ work whose purpose is working for the disadvantaged communities.
