Authentic assessment can be interpreted as endeavors that constitute replicas of what the students learned in the classroom in the real professional world. An assessment is said to be authentic when its tasks contain real-life value as well as equip learners with knowledge and skills to solve problems they encounter in their lives (Aziz et al., 2020). Teachers can develop authentic assessments by identifying learners’ performance standards, choosing authentic learning tasks, recognizing criteria for the learning activity, and designing a rubric to measure its achievements.
Lack of support from parents and school administration, burdening teaching hours, and lack of adequate art facilities such as studio space are some of the challenges art instructors encounter when assessing art competencies among students.
