According to Morgan (2020), emotional intelligence can simply be defined as the potential to understand your colleagues. Emotional intelligence is vital to motivation, cooperation, communication, and working well with others. The potential to control and convey our emotions in a healthy manner is essential; however, the power to construe, understand, and react appropriately to other people’s emotions is more important. Emotional intelligence determines one's ability to comprehend dissimilar emotions, to restrain, and eventually to evaluate them. A good concept that can be used to measure whether an individual is emotionally intelligent can be derived by observing their self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. These areas can be carefully cultivated to establish spaces where the majority of people can be fruitful. Therefore, their emotions and reactions about the world around them will not overrule them. An example of the emotional intelligence concept is a workplace where members feel free to speak their minds and express themselves without the fear of being judged.
The cardinal duty of a leader is to bloom good feelings to the people they lead (Goleman, Boyatzis, & Mckee, 2013). People work at their level best when they feel good. The good feeling lubricates brain efficiency, making people understand information in a better way, thus arriving at commendable judgments in complex situations.
