Psychological Belief
One of the most prominent psychological beliefs is that the secret of happiness is smiling regularly. In particular, positive psychology shows that a smile can enable a person to overcome sadness and restore joy. However, suppressing the feelings of fear, anger, grief, and sadness increases negative emotions, which might stay longer than expected.
Pini Yakuel (2018) argues that humans process information in different and independent ways. For this reason, intelligence is not one-dimensional and can take various forms (Yakuel, 2018). By returning to my psychological myth that a smile can make an individual happy, it all depends on the cause of sadness. For example, in the case of death, even if one smiles, the person cannot become happy. The only way to overcome the feeling of grief is by accepting the situation and heal gradually. Moreover, Valerie Strauss (2017) claims that one must understand the meaning of a specific proposition before believing that it might be true or not. On that note, the author criticizes President Trump’s belief that he is the smartest person in the world (Strauss, 2017). Howard Gardner, the professor of psychology at Harvard University, asserts that one must understand the different dimensions of a specific belief before proving whether it is right or wrong.
