TOPIC CHOSEN

I would like to complete my linear regression project on the sugar content in children’s brand fruit juices. I chose this topic because I have a 9-week-old daughter and I want to make the best choices for her when she is able to drink juices.

You may choose any 8-10 kid fruit juices. Please see page 29 of the attachment Sugary Drink FAC.

Instructions

Choose a particular type of food or drink. (Examples: Fish sandwich at fast-food chains, cheese pizza, breakfast cereal) For at least 8 brands, look up the fat content and the associated calorie total per serving. Make a quick plot for yourself to "eyeball" whether the data exhibit a relatively linear trend. (If so, proceed. If not, try a different type of food.) After you find the line of best fit, use your line to make a prediction corresponding to a fat amount not occurring in your data set.) Alternative: Look up carbohydrate content and associated calorie total per serving.

Purpose: To analyze the sugar content in grams contained in children’s brand fruit juices. I chose this topic because I have a 9-week-old daughter and I want to make the best choices for her when she is able to drink juices.
Data: the sugar content and corresponding calories in children fruit juices

LR-2

The general trend for the children fruit juices is that the higher the calories, the higher the sugar content and vice versa.

Linear of Best Fit (Regression Line)
Mean x (x̄): 21.6
Mean y (ȳ): 87.9
Intercept (a): -10.6069
Slope (b): 4.56051
Equation of the regression line is Y=4.56x-10.6, where x is the sugar content and y is the calories content
(LR-4) Slope
The Slope is 4.56 as the sugary content is positively correlated to the calorie content. This indicates that the calorie intake increases by 4.56 (kcal) when there is a 1 g increase in sugar content.
