Define economic geography and provide an example of the spatial characteristic of economic activities.
Economic geography is the study of the geography of all economic activities that are established to form a major concentration on business activities and the utilization of the available resources in an attempt to gain commercial achievements. This discipline creates a major focus on the world's economic status from; local, regional, national and global causes of uneven economic development and the measures taken to reconstruct the economy and gain stability. An example of spatial characteristic is the degree to which a certain place or location is open and comfortable for human habitation and commercial activities like transport of goods and services to the consumers.
Explain the main differences between economics and economic geography.
Economics studies the movement of goods and services from production, distribution and to the final consumer but economic geography studies the human activities involved in the processing of raw materials to finished goods for commercial gains. While economics places a major focus on how economic agents interact to produce output in the current economies and under the prevailing circumstances, economic geography looks at the strategic location of firms, international trade and the transportation process of goods and services from the producers to the consumers.

The themes of economic geography describe the process involved in the entire process of production of goods and services. The geography of agriculture determines the location of agricultural sources in an attempt to ensure efficiency in the marketing of the outputs. For instance, marketing perishable goods require quick processes and transactions to ensure that the products get to the desired designation as fresh as gotten from the farm. Natural resources provide raw materials for most processing industries. Lack of adequate resources leads to low supply due to insufficient production and unsatisfied demands in the markets. Trade is the exchange of goods and services for money or other commodities and this activity helps in the disposal of products after processing. Transportation is the distribution of products from the producers to the consumers. This theme helps in the process of delivering goods to the final customers to ensure completion of the commercial activity and gain the anticipated returns. The aspects help in the achievement of all the goals desired in economic geography for the exploitation of resources to acquire products for commercial activities.
