Verbal communication involves use of words both oral and written to convey a message. Non-verbal communication is the use of body language in sending messages. Verbal communication can help a person succeed in life when used correctly. For example, learning how to pass a message clearly to avoid misunderstandings, listening attentively, and providing constructive feedback (Kacperck, 1997). Similarly, using non-verbal communication appropriately increases changes of succeeding in life. For instance, paying attention to non-verbal signals, using eye-contact, avoiding fidgeting unnecessarily, and using signals to add meaning.
